Fort Dearborn Provides M&A Market Commentary at ACG’s Annual Market Trends Breakfast
Chicago, Illinois - March 6, 2009
Fort Dearborn Advisors today presented a review of recent M&A activity at the annual market trends breakfast sponsored by ACG Chicago. The market trends breakfast is one of ACG Chicago’s premier events and this year had over 200 attendees.
John Waller, a Senior Vice President at Fort Dearborn, presented the overview and also discussed historical M&A trends dating to the late 1890s. His presentation also touched on the current economic environment in relation to historical data both for the United States and other countries.
The presentation concluded that although the volume and value of transactions is down significantly year-over-year and in consecutive periods, today’s situation is far from unique. Even though the outlook for 2009 is another significant drop in the number of transactions, Waller stated that the long-term M&A fundamentals remain positive.
Other presenters at the meeting included David Walker of Allstate, Duncan Bourne of Wynnchurch Capital and Robert Horak of Lincoln International.
