Special Situations
Fort Dearborn's Special Situations Group is comprised of dedicated investment bankers from our Special Situations Team and is complemented by individuals from our other industry practices. All of these individuals have decades of experience in advising companies that are experiencing tight liquidity, facing operational challenges or severe competitive threats. The unique combination of our extensive operational expertise and financial knowledge enables us to refinance or sell many companies who faced challenging circumstances.
We regularly complete transactions under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and Uniform Commercial Code and thoroughly understand the costs and benefits of these venues. The majority of our work in the Special Situations Group is conducted outside of these legal structures.
The unique combination of our operating experience and investment banking skills frequently enables us to identify operational improvements prior to a sale or refinancing that increases the value of the company or lowers the cost and increases the availability of debt financing. Additionally, our credibility and experience with many lending sources often benefits clients by enabling us to convince impatient lenders that we can improve and refinance or sell a business and that this will result in a better outcome for the company rather than the lender taking more drastic action.
"When a company needs financial restructuring advice, one of the most important factors in deciding which firm to select should be that firm’s experience. Fort Dearborn Advisors has been helping companies restructure for our entire history and as a result we have a wealth of experience to bring to bear for our clients'."
